Mayweather discredited his own skills by doing what he did. He was doing great, in total control, then all the uglyness with the headbutt. Ortiz apologizes, Floyd acts like he's accepting, then wam, wam while Ortiz doesn't know the fight is going because of Cortez's incompetence.
By celebrating this like it's such a great win for Floyd, it lowers the standard. If He's so good, why not whoop Ortiz all night while he knows he's fighting? That way there's no excuses. Why resort to faking like you accept the hug just to sucker him in then knocking him out while he's not looking? Floyd can do better than that, and we've seen it so we should not just accept less as well as horrendous sportsmanship.
Do you really think this performance stands with his other impressive victorys?

I didn't like it either, because although those were legal punches, it was very unsportmanlike, something that you don't expect from a champ. You can't help but have high expectations for top boxers.

In any case I don't think Floyd-Pacquiao will ever happen. While I am not a fan of either boxer, I really do find Mayweather's testing demands ridiculous. That will continue to be the sticking point.
I've watched thousands of fights, and every fight is different. To me the whole sportsmanship argument in this situation is overstated because most ATG knew what rule to break and what rule couldn't be broken. Mayweather did what he had to do to protect himself in a fight that could have gotten further out of hand, but we'll never know. As far as the May/Pac fight not happening, I believe it will because the more North American sports start using WADA/USADA for testing, the bigger the cloud of suspicion raised over Manny for never taking it.

You take days to write a judgement on a pro fighters actions inside a dynamic split second during a fight , how fast do you think Floyds reactions are , have a think about this and look from his perspective , its purely reactive reflex and these guy train themselves like machines , if they think about punching their done , they see and opening and they fire instinctively , Floyd would have no reasoning here or very little it wouldbe like a brain fart lol , they are subconsciously conditioned through training to automatically not hit when they are down , to break in the heat of a rally etc etc , but this was not pre programed , it was a weird deal and Floyd reacted the way he is trained to react , punch and be fast about it ,,,, in hindsight not honorable I agree , but I dont blame Floyd at all and its not the slightest bit illegal and not the slightest bit a slur on Floyds boxing ability , and thats how haters are trying to portray it . .

I felt so ripped off by the result that I will not pay to watch Floyd box ever again, even versus Pac. So I guess it caused the opposite effect of what you are saying to me.
Every fight is different imo.

Was Tyson vs Spinks a rip off?...some would say yes.

Was Holyfield vs Douglas a rip off?...some would say yes.

Do you think people felt Ali vs Liston 2 or Castillo vs Corales 2 were rip offs?...maybe.

My point is several legacy leaving fights have had a element of controversy, and what happen sat falls into that category in my eyes. That's not a strong enough reason to stop or convience others to stop supporting one of the sports most popular and skillful fighters imo.

I was wondering the same thing. It's not like there was anything unusual about the fight.
