  • Calzaghe Prime vs Hopkins/RJJ Primes

IMO Calzaghe is a very good fighter from Wales but I think had he fought RJJ and Hopkins in their primes he would have lost. If Tito could hang in there with Roy, Joe will beat him for sure. For the record I'm clasifying Hopkins prime as between 33 and 38. And Roy Jones's obviously anytime before his first fight with Tarver. Please don't flame me Brits just my opinion and I'm trying to gauge how many others share or don't share my opinion.

I think it'll be a close fight with Hopkins, their styles would always make for a close fight. I'd give Hopkins the edge.

Calzaghe would lose a clear decision to Jones but he'll be competitive for sure.

Man! If Calzaghe could BARLEY beat a 43 year old Hopkins how the hell could he ever beat him in his prime? That first round knock down would have been a first round knock out!

this shouldnt even be a discussion, Calzaghe....RJJ?...it would be a ****in slaughter, roy jones' superior handspeed, power, counterpunching ability would destroy calzaghe. Hes a much much better all around athlete than joe.

Let's not forget the Calzaghe of '96-'97 was a HUGE puncher, and much sharper punching than you see today (not just quick, flashing, incorrect shots). Sure he wasn't near as loose and relaxed back then, or as tactically aware, but physically he was very overwhelming and seemed to have much better balance.

                against this Hopkins.
