In 1983 Luis Resto punished Billy Collins Jr. and won a 10 round decision. Collins was battered beyond recognition.

It was found out that trainer Panama Lewis had removed an oz. of padding and wrapped Resto's hands with plaster of paris. Collins suffered permanent damage to his vision and later comitted suicide.

Lewis got six years in prison. Resto three. Lewis is on permanent suspension from US boxing to this day.

If it gets proven that Margarito's wrappings were illegal he and his handlers should be looking at a longer sentence.

I won't deny that if proven guilty Marg should get some form of punishment. But I expect the same treatment for other boxers who have done something illegal also.

The only accusations made were the intent to use the su****ious wraps which to my knowlede is not illegal.

If it can be proven that they INTENDED to fight with loaded gloves it wouldnt matter wheter he did it or not.

It will be very hard for team Margarito to prove that!

I'm not going into a debate wheter the gloves were loaded against Cotto or not, but Resto admitted 2 other occasions where his wrappings were illegal and there is a definete su****ion regarding Margarito now.

I mean I never liked Margarito but I atleast respected him and the opposition he faced at 147. I'll admit I got a pain in my stomach when I heard about this...I hope **** gets cleared so we can see winner of Cotto vs Margarito face SSM or SSM vs Margarito II before the Cotto fight
