why do so many people on boxing scene disrespect hatton??

i am not the biggest ricky hatton fan but i respect that he comes to fight and tries to knocked out his opponent. he backs down from no man. even though hatton has proven himself for years as a blood and guts warrior still people hate him so much here and i just dont understand it. hatton is the type of fighter who tries to please the fans by going to war and going for the knockout. still there seems like there are more fans of maywathers running ducking and dodging than of a true warrior like hatton. is it just the maywather fans scared of hatton because he is one of the biggest threats to mayweather?? i just dont understand how people can hate hatton when he has a crowd pleasing style.

I think its a combination of a few things. First of all - he's a popular guy on BS and has alot of fans who are very dedicated to defend him at any occasion (myself included). The only problem is that these die-hard Hatton fans clash frequently with PBF fans who are near-enough the same.

Its funny, because PBF fans often cite reasons of dislike to Ricky which you could also apply to PBF - i.e....

Record padding (both fighters have taken fights they were obviously given to win..... but hasn't everyone?)

Erm.. PBF fans often say Hatton holds and hits, and hugs. No one denies this, but PBF is often targetted as a coward who hits once and runs away.

PBF fans say Hatton has looked unconvincing over his last few fights and that Castillo was past his best. Yet Hatton fans could say PBF nearly lost to an ageing DLH... a DLH who couldn't effectivly last 12 rounds and slowed down towards the end showing his age. DLH's stamina proberbly being the only reason he didn't win, as in many peoples opinion he took the opening rounds.

Then there is the other factors - mainly points about nationalism. Eventually every Hatton/PBF thread goes into some kind of Yank vs Limey brawl. Its a mess, but people can't help themselves.

Everyone has there haters though. Its all about discussion and arguments. If we had nothing to argue about, then there would be no BS.

Yes, there's only three or four serious Hatton haters, like Dios and SiN, but they are so determined to discredit him and post about him so frequently, it sometimes seems like there's many of them.

I think most American boxing fans respect Hatton.

Awe man, please, I didn't even read past this. You cannot in any way compare resume's, floyd gets dissed for his style, but he has ducked no one. That Margarito was the most feared man in the world crap has been exposed. Mayweather has titles in 5 different weight classes and has beaten the likes of Genaro Hernandez, Corrales (in his prime), Castillo twice (in his prime), Jesus Chavez, N'dou, ended Gatti, Sharmba, Judah, Baldo, Dela Hoya.. Hatton beat an over-the-hill Kosta, and a battle torn, slow, moving up in weight Castillo. Give me a break! Hatton is a clown and the criticism he receives is well deserved.

N'Dou: poorly skilled, got KOed by a weak puncher in another fight, lost his next fight then retired

Mitchell: was a shot fighter after being beaten badly by Tszyu twice

Castillo: won the first fight with PBF, bad judges

De La Hoya: great boxer but past his prime

Gatti: entertaining, but shot after his battles with Ward and was a limited fighter

Judah: limited fighter, had been KOed by Tszyu, had been beaten by Baldomir just before

No, Mayweather has fought hand-picked opponents - either limited or past prime fighters. He's always chosen the easiest titleholders to beat, and he's had judges help him out several times.

it seems like more than 4 people. i see hatton threads everyday disrespecting this man and i dont understand how they can cheer on a coward ducker and dodger over a warrior like hatton.

i dont ricky is the biggest threat to mayweather at all. plus no other fighter on this site get heat like floyd mayweather. i dont understand why slugging it out and seeing which man falls first is admirable but when you use the sweet science, you considered a runner or scared.
for the most part people just need to become fans of the sport and stop hating on the fighters. these guys risk thier lives each time they step into the ring.

I don't think it's that people hate Hatton, before the PBF-Hatton fight was announced, practically no-one made hate threads about hatton. I think it's just Mayweather fans trying to discredit him so they can make Mayweather look better.
