al bernstein: lennox lewis and manny pacquiao are the best of this era

Several subplots fuel interest in Joe Calzaghe's Sept. 20 showdown with Roy Jones. The most compelling? How the outcome of the fight could affect the debate over who has ruled the ring for the past 15 years.

Bernstein prefers those who fought and beat everyone around to those who picked and chose their way to perfect marks. That's why he rates Lennox Lewis and Pacquiao as the two best of the era. He places Mayweather just beneath them, then lumps the likes of Jones, Calzaghe, Hopkins and Felix Trinidad together in the next grouping.

    plain and basic common sense.

      Pacquiao I agree.

But Lewis ducked a lot of fighters. He refused to fight Tyson until he was sure he was shot, while fighting a lot of journeymen like Fortune, Butler and Dixon yet only had 42 wins and 32 KO.

He ducked Rid**** Bowe too. He wouldn't let even a 40-something Foreman test his chin, and he ducked a rematch with Vitali and retired instead.

Prime Tyson would have KOed Lewis for certain - after all, Oliver McCall did.

To Tunny Bowe ducked Lennox, Lennox destroyed Bowe in the ams and Bowe wanted nothing to do with Lewis, Tyson would get KO'd by Lennox in any era Lewis took punches from Tyson (old), Holyfield, Ruddock, Tua.

My opinion on the greatest fighters in this era is

        1. Lennox
        2. Roy Jones Jr
        3. Mayweather
        4. Pac-man
        5. ODLH-Trinidad and the like

Bernstein is just jealous of floyd's money and success and skills and because floyd is the greatest of all time and didnt fight bums like Robinson did to pad his records. Bernstein also doesnt like black fighters. he's racist. Lennox doesnt count as a black fighter because he's british so he might as well be white and thats why Berstein mentions him. Berstein doesnt know **** about boxing. he's old and washed up and broke.

Umm, Tyson vacated the WBC belt after he got out of jail and paid Lewis off so they wouldn't have to fight.

Rid**** Bowe threw his belt in the trash can so he wouldn't have to fight Lennox Lewis. Mind you, Lewis had already KO'ed him as an amateur.

George Foreman said the only guy he would never fight was Lennox Lewis.

Whats bad about that is he can say that and it will go unpenalized. There should be some sort of probation period where the merits of their posts are measured so as to avoid that.

i think they go into shock every time they find someone who doesnt think mayweather is the best. glad to see some plain and basic common sense because undefeated dont mean your the best especially when you duck and dodge as much as mayweather has.
