I always hear people say that - despite boxing being a spectator sport - it doesn't matter that Bernard Hopkins has become exceptionally dull to watch in his later years. (Usually followed by this at the suggestion that boxing should be exciting to watch: ).

Now, the point is, if being an engaging fighter isn't the most important thing, but clocking up a record number of wins against iffy competition is, then why can't he just do it in an old warehouse somewhere?

That way, just one or two officials can turn up, ensure it all takes place according to the guidelines, a "win" can be reported in The Ring and we can move on.

He beat up your boyfriend "Mr. Nuff Tump," I bet that's the only reason you hate him.

      Haw haw haw!

Seriously though, some people actually defend his right to run around like an old granddad.

I mean, take that as an example - he beat up the Nuff Tumper. When? Don't you mean he ran around and potshotted for 12 rounds? (He got arrested afterwards by the police for hit and run offences).

The way some people talk you'd think it was Muhammad Ali in there.

You seen my Eastman-Hopkins highlights movie?

That HL video about summed up BH's last couple of fights for sure. I never liked Hopkins, and that’s because he copied RJ's style of countering almost down to the T. Yes it works for X, but wow the boredom that came with it is almost too much to bear. I can’t wait to see if Hopkins actually sheds the shell halfway and opens up for Taylor to KO him early.

I don't think his GBP Partner will approve that

ugh, the same song and dance from all you Hopkins haters. I never see any of these threads created for other guys with boxing styles: Toney, Tarver, Byrd, Marquez, Calderon, etc.

Not every boxer brawls for 12 rounds. If that were the case, Pacman would be #1 pound for pound. What you, and everyone else, call running, I call smart boxing. Does he run more than most? Absolutely. The man is also a few months away from being 41 and still fighting more than competitively.

Ahh, and the iffy competition. The man challenged the heir apparent in the division, coming off fighting De La Hoya, and then has a rematch scheduled, and then wants to fight Winky and January, and people still talk about iffy competition.

ok, first of all hopkins is not dull to watch. anyone who appreciates the skill of boxing loves to watch b-hop. he has great defense. and ring presence. he throws punches with power and precision. hopkins is one of the best boxers of our era.

and if vitali gets the major belts (which he wont) he wont defend them successfully once, because he is a bum. he is an awful boxer and a chicken **** and i cant wait to see toney whoop his ass and then unify the division.
