Manny Pacquiao-Antonio Margarito, Arum Says Never

Manny Pacquiao shocked the world when he moved up from lightweight to welterweight and stopped the much bigger Oscar De La Hoya in a dominating eight round performance. The fighter viewed as the top guy at the weight is WBA champ Antonio Margarito. Boxing fans began to chatter and debate on how Pacquiao would do against a welterweight like Margarito, who has a body and the strenght of a middleweight. [details]

Bigger, stronger and good chin: are these not the same reasons why most people thought DLH would walk through Pacman?

Does anyone here think Pacquiao can beat Margarito? He's definitely faster than Margarito. Margarito comes straight forward and is slower than DLH, so what's the difference?

How about Cotto Vs Pacquiao then? They are closer in size, and Cotto is not the most durable fighter either.

      Why not Bob?

If Mayweather the supposed "best boxer P4P bar-none" who is closer to Margo's weight decided to retire instead of facing Margarito, what more Pacquiao who's a mere blown-up superfeather.

If Bob run out of money making schemes, or his stable of boxers run out of options, he will pit his boxers against each other. He's got no loyalty to any of his boxers, his loyalty is to Benjamin Franklin...

You have to remember that many didn't expect Oscar to show up by fight time at 147 and most people over-looked what Freddie was saying. It would have been interesting had the fight been at 154 where Oscar was healthiest and wouldn't have had a problem rehydrating to 164+. Manny may have still won, but I doubt in that fashion because Oscar would have at least had the energy to actually fight back. If the fight was at 154, I wonder if Freddie would have even taken it.

Remember, being weight-drained kills you. It was odd to many people that Pac actually out-weighed Oscar that night.

You also have to remember the two reasons why Freddie took the fight: Oscar hadn't made the weight in a long time and fighters his age that had gone back down in weight after being away tended to fail in their return because the weight-loss kills them. And, "Oscar can't pull the trigger."

Please don't let that fight cloud your vision. If you don't take it from me, continue to listen to what Freddie Roach said before and continues to say after in his interviews as to why Pac was able to defeat Oscar at this point in Oscar's career. He even admitted he basically beat Oscar on the scales.

              Now think of Margarito:
The guy is big, strong, relentless, can take big shots, powerful, and hasn't shown ill effects at fighting at 147 yet. He is also a very active fighter unlike Oscar...which was another thing Freddie mentioned as an advantage Pac had over Oscar.

Speed could trouble Margarito, I don't disagree, and movement could too, however; it is Pac we are talking about and not some fighter that started at 147 that could probably be better equipped to deal with Margarito's strength, size, and shots. Pac also gets hit a bit too much. And again, don't let the Oscar fight cloud your vision...remember JMM fights for example...now think of Margarito.

Margarito would swallow Pac, Tony is toooo tall and would absorb Pac's punches. The fight at 147 was only for DLH. Pac and Roach even said that after the DLH fight their going back down to 140.

A Pac vs. Margarito fight would look way to awkward. Plus Margarito has other business avenging his loss to Williams in my opinion.

I guess that is One Mexican the proclaimed Mexicutioner wouldn't take out.

Unless of course...what did Freddie joke? Fighting Margarito at a catch-weight to bring him down even further in weight...gotta love Freddie's honesty and thinking.

Freddie Rocah is 100% right... Don't need to argue with him this time... Even full time WW is too small for Margarito he should move on 154 atleast....
