  • Comments Thread For: Guerrero Has Surprise Party Before Leaving for Camp

Robert Guerrero left his hometown of Gilroy, Calif., on Sunday to prepare for his May 4 showdown with Floyd Mayweather in Las Vegas, but not before his family and friends surprised him with a going-away celebration the previous night.

“We’re going to have a surprise party for Robert,” Guerrero’s father, Ruben, told BoxingScene.com/CSNBayArea.com hours before it occurred on Saturday. “We even had a special piñata made that looks like Mayweather.”

On Saturday, the fighter went for a morning run before doing an interview with Comcast SportsNet Bay Area, who was first to release the video chronicling Guerrero’s first encounter with Mayweather to promote the fight. [Click Here To Read More]

If Guerrero is just starting camp and hasn't lost any weight yet since the face off then he is getting KTFO.. Floyd's 3 weeks in already..

What do you base that on? First off, Guerrero has been working out, it's not like he's sitting on his ass eating donuts.

Second, you don't need an 8 week camp, that's a misconception in boxing. 4-6 weeks is perfect to do what you need to do.

It says that "he just left for camp". Doesn't say he hasn't been training. I'm sure he has been training since this is the biggest fight of his career and Guerrero is a professional. All this means is he just left for Vegas to finish up camp and this gives him 6 weeks. Before fight night weekend. Plenty of time.

A surprise party for a grown man? Sounds more like a boy scout leaving home for the first time to attend the big jamboree. No wonder he's going to get knocked out.

WTF are you talking about? If Guerrero hasn't lost any weight since he's seen Floyd then he's got a problem.. a 4-6 week camp my be enough for 10 rounds, but not for a 12 round fight with the best fighter on the planet. Seems like you are the only one here that doesn't think it is a issue..Guerrero should of started official camp weeks ago..
