Why does the US struggle so much at boxing in the summer Olympics? We used to get so many talented boxers and future greats coming out of the Olympics, now most male American boxers don't even make it past the second or third round of the tournament and don't even come close to the medal round. So what changed? Is the scoring system different? If so, how? Is is that most boxers go pro sooner and opt to skip the Olympics? And if that's the case, I thought pros are allowed in the Olympics now. Or is it that fewer young athletes become boxers and so many more try to make it in baseball, basketball and American football? Or is it something else?
