  • Comments Thread For: Bundrage-Hernandez Targeted For Fantasy Springs, 1/24

BoxingScene.com has been advised that Golden Boy Promotions is looking to stage the IBF's final junior middleweight eliminator, between Cornelius "K9" Bundrade (32-5, 19KOs) and Joey "Twinkle Fingers" Hernandez (23-1-1, 13KOs), on January 24th at Fantasy Springs Resort & Casino in Indio, California.

Bundradge lost the IBF title to Ishe Smith by way of a twelve round majority decision in February, but then Smith lost the belt to Carlos Molina on the Mayweather-Canelo undercard on September 14th. Hernandez, who recently broke away from promoter Don King, has been inactive since last November's decision win over James Winchester. Hernandez, now advised by Luis DeCubas Jr., is still a promotional free agent.

$11,000 for this fight is $11,000 too much.

Forget about the low purse bid (hopefully the fighters negotiate a piece of the site/TV fee or attendance revenue), without GBP this fight would be devoid of a TV slot.

This fight might end up on a Shobox or Friday Night Fights, which is better than the non-televised DKP undercards that K-9 has been involved in these last few years (despite being a titleholder at that time).

Don't have a horse in this race (though I give the slight edge to K-9), but good luck to both fighters...

Pretty sad huh? Twinkle Fingers gotta pay his dues I guess. If he wins I wanna see an Ed Paredes trilogy.
