What happened to Pacquiao's punching power?

His power has been massively overrated since the Hatton KO. He only has slightly above average power. His speed and agility have been his main assets.

Clottey : scared to throw because of too much power
Margarito : Almost killed, beating to a bloody pulp
Mosley : (says he has never been hit as hard)

JMM : Barely a bruise on him
Bradley : Had 2 foot injurys, no major bruising, and not even a knockdown.
What happened to Pacquiao's power?
bradley and JMM have great chins and huge hearts. more importantly they have speed, skills and intelligence. to hurt someone you have to hit them cleanly with a well timed punch they dont see coming. thats easy to do on hatton running in with his chin in the air and his hands at his chest but not so easy against someone like JMM.
also he didnt put margarito or DLH down or hurt them too badly with any single punch, it was an accumulation of punishment and both of them were drained causing their face to swell up more. if he hit bradley or JMM that much he would have stopped them both or if they were drained for that matter. cotto was drained too and clottey always lost confidence when things didnt go his way and was never the guy to open up unless he solved his opponent. mosley was shot, he spent most of the fight running from mayweather too and he never had nowhere near pacs power.
in short pacs power is as good as ever. hes fighting better opponents with more skills, intelligence and talent who he cant hit as often or as cleanly and who havent been forced to drain themselves to get the fight.

pac still has good power (destroyed marg's orbital bone, second person to ever knock down mosley, etc.)..but i think what's questionable right now is his killer instinct..pac looked a bit too passive in his last few fights. also I think his stamina wasn't that great when he fought bradley. also marquez got bruised up lets not kid ourselves...

So He let JMM have his way so he can look bad. But Floyd still find excuse not to fight Pac and chose to go to Jail and then got a pass and fight Pac's leftover Cotto. Then Pac takes it easy with Bradley so to not to scare Floyd, Then the Vegas Judges got Bribed by Floyd and Robbed Pac! So after Floyd got out of his vacation cell, He has a new excuse not to fight Pac and will fight Featherfisted Bradley instead!

His punching power has never been great. For example in 2006 he fought Oscar Larios at 130, two divisions above his natural weight, when Larios was coming off a third round stoppage loss to Israel Vazquez, and he couldn't knock him out. His power just looked great for a while because he was fighting weight drained, mentally and physically ruined guys who had little to no ability to move and little to no defence either. It's easy to look like an offensive monster when your facing drained/slow guys that just walk to you and don't move their head. It's much harder to dominate, knock out, knock down and land the vast majority of your punches against guys that are on top of their game, like Floyd has been doing.Last edited by JK1700; 07-27-2012, 02:24 PM.
