Sergio sucks. Beating Sergio means nothing.

How could it affect Floyd's legacy when Sergio was knocked down by a eurobum like Macklin and KO'd be Margarito? Pathetic.

Once Jones beats Bailey, I hope he gets matched with a Top WW in Oct/Nov 2012. It'd make a Manny fight more legit.
You're right and none of those fights are significant. Manny has topped out.

a win over martinez solidifies it for me

if canelo keeps piling up the wins and continues to be a p4p force after floyd would beat him then thats just the icing on the cake

Floyd is already the greatest of this era before he ever fought Hatton.

If one uses the standard that has always been used to measure careers and fighters themselves, that would be obvious.

                Its not even close.

But if one only uses his own opinion ... and start measuring value by how exciting the fights were or doesn't weigh the value of an opponent based on that opponent's wins vs losses and what ranked fighters that opponent has defeated ... then EVERYONE is a candidate for greatest of the era.

There is one criteria for a reason. Its so that bullshit like this can't cause chaos on the scales of greatness.

Notice how in EVERY instance that someone nominates someone other than the consensus best, they absolutely REFUSE to factor in the rank of opponents, the condition of the opponent(age, coming of loss), how established the opponent was at the weight where the fight took place, and whether or not it was a catchweight?

Longevity, fighting top 3 champions, no weight stipulations and and not targeting vacant paper titles mean MUCH more than the names that one beats.

Remove the hedge of hype, address the above criteria and watch as many of the so-called HOF'ers begin to look like contenders instead of champions.

If he beats Martinez at 160, definitely.
