  • Adam Booth: We have always been willing to fight him (Vitali) in September.

DAVID HAYE and Vitali Klitschko are engulfed in a row over contracts for their proposed heavyweight super fight.

WBC world champion Klitschko claimed Haye turned down a fight against him on September 8, forcing him to face unknown Lebanese boxer Manuel Charr instead.

But Haye’s camp insist they never refused to fight Vitali and made the Ukrainian aware from day one of negotiations that he would fight Dereck Chisora first.

Haye KO’d his British rival in The Sun-backed bout at Upton Park on Saturday Klitschko, in Moscow to publicise his title defence against Charr, said: “David Haye was supposed to be at this press conference.

“He had a concrete offer for a fight in September and refused. He turned down a fight with Vitali in favour of Chisora.”

Haye’s manager Adam Booth blasted: “We have never turned down Vitali.

“We always have been willing to fight him in September but he tried to dictate who David should fight next.

“We made it clear David would fight Chisora in early July then Klitschko in September.

“They told us if we fought Chisora next then we’d be out of a fight against Vitali. We never said we’d not fight Vitali.”

It looks like they made a half hearted offer just so they could claim Haye turned them down to me.
