  • Micky Ward movie being made now: Check pics of Bale out

I'm not sure if the movie will cover Gatti-Ward but hopefully they can put something in it for Gatti to show some respect at the very end...maybe a dedication.

Bale taking his movie role serious (as always)

Well, it appears he's trying a different method now. Rather than the beefed-up Bruce Wayne or the Xtreme!!!! John Connor, C.Bale's going full drug addict on us for his new role in David O. Russell's The Fighter. (Oh, can't wait for the rants that will leak from that set.)

Bale plays boxer turned trainer turned drug addict Dickie Eklund, for which he's obviously lost weight and muscle and hollowed up his cheeks—and then there's that lovely thinning hair.

Gotta respect Christian Bale. He did something similar for "The Machinist". He dropped 63 for that movie.

Still, Micky was like 5'8'' 147 lbs. and Bale is 6'0'' 185 lbs.

Ward will be played by Whalberg.

True, but He is not playing Micky; he is playing his half-brother Dickie Eklund. Not sure how tall he is (which actually might be around the same height as Ward) but that is why they have "Movie magic" if needed. Camera angles from above to make Bale look smaller as well as finding another opponent taller or the same height. Plus squatting lower while the opponent fights tall)...and for his frame, he is skinny so he doesn't have to be 147 pounds (where Dickie fought). That is, if they are adding fight scenes of him. I think they are concentrating on his fall from grace and the rise again with Ward. It's a brother story...I think. Not sure on the script.

In the end, few care. Would you rather have a 5'8 actor that may not be able to do the role or just have Bale do it?

Eklund was around Sugar Ray Leonard's size so the height difference between the actor and Eklund isn't that big.
