  • Comments Thread For: Chris Arreola Has Mind Set on Revenge and Titles

By Luis Sandoval - For the second time in a month’s span, a Heavyweight bout hosted at the Fantasy Springs Casino ended in the very first round as Chris Arreola (35-3, 31KOs) put himself back in the win column with a quick and vicious victory over Seth Mitchell (26-2-1, 19KOs). It only took 2 minutes and 26 seconds for Arreola to make good on his promise that he would knock Mitchell out as he has now positioned himself to land a big fight again.

In the week leading up to the bout, both fighters had said their contest would not go the distance and would end early. They were both correct but it was Arreola who inflicted the damaging blows while Mitchell was the one on the receiving end.

Ironically it was Mitchell who would strike first in the fight as he hit Arreola with a quick one-two punch in the opening seconds. Arreola brushed off the combination and began hounding Mitchell around the ring looking to land his own attack. The first right hand Arreola threw that connected immediately discombobulated Mitchell as his legs turned to jelly and he held on for dear life.

Arreola did his best to try to free himself from the clinch and continue his attack but Mitchell held on tight as Arreola would throw Mitchell to the floor to finally free himself. It wasn’t a knockdown by any means but it wouldn’t be the last time Mitchell would end up on the canvas. [Click Here To Read More]

It's too bad Arreola doesn't even acknowledge a rematch with Adamek, which I'd think he'd win as long as he's in shape. Stiverne will kick his ass again in a rematch. I know Arreola wants a world championship but it's not going to happen through that route.

He wants the Stiverene rematch because he has the mando #1 spot and he wants it

Neither wilder or jennings has done much to even get me thinking they have a chance against arreola. I been watching HW boxing a long time & i don't give a **** if arreola eats taco bell & comes in at 260. He is one tough SOB & will take 2 to land one. I like that! Wilder & jennings have a win over liakhovich but it's safe to say he had seen better days but still solid wins for both. Jennings has that long reach at 6'2 but he was rocked by bowie tupou( big puncher but nothing else)& wilder was on the floor by harold sconiers. Arreola is going to come right after them from the opening bell. Liakhovich was pretty inactive for years so if those wins came at the expense of a shop worn former champion there is a good chance we would see a couple more david price like losses...fighters not ready for the big boys...

I am ok with jennings, wilder, adamek, stiverne, fury, haye but i'd be intrigued to see arreola fight pulev. I don't think pulev has enough power to keep arreola off him. Pulev has a great jab & nice arsenal of punches but if you can't hurt arreola you will be in trouble.

He does acknowledge a rematch with Adamek. Honestly he needs to be in shape. Who knows if he was In this fight.. It only lasted one round. He can beat anyone but the klitschkos. He can also lose to those fighters as well. I believe he is who he is. Lazy but a talented fighter.

Adamek? Adamek really is no big hitter at heavyweight. He beat Arreola clearly. Pulev would win a wide UD against Arreola. Arreola is still the same fighter that he was before the Mitchell fight.

Arreola lost to adamek a few years ago. He's had quite a few fights since then. He wasn't ready for klitschko at the time & adamek barely beat him. He got more experience now & the broken nose changed the stiverne fight. People forget arreola went from beating journeymen to fighting 2 of the best HWs in the world at the time. Nothing to be ashamed about. I don't know if he would beat pulev but when pulev couldn't lay out thompson with that huge 1,2 in the 9th i started questioning his power. Arreola isn't 41 either. The southpaw stance & inactivity were factors but still that 9th round got me thinking pulev's power may be what holds him back from getting to the top. Arreola is not your typical HW. A great jab only can only do so much if a guy walks through your punches. Pulev is over 230lbs so he isn't going to be jabbing & moving. He will mix it up & that's what arreola wants...
