  • Comments Thread For: Schaefer: This is The Highest Grossing PPV of All-Time

Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer says Floyd Mayweather Jr. (44-0, 26KOs) vs. Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (42-0-1, 30KOs) will be the highest grossing pay-per-view event of all-time. The current record is $136,000 million, set down by the 2007 Oscar De La Hoya vs. Mayweather pay-per-view. The Showtime pay-per-view has a price tag of $64.95 and $74.95 for high definition.

Mayweather-Canelo has already broken the highest gate record, with a tally of $20,003,150. The previous gate record of $18,419,200 was held by De La Hoya-Mayweather.

Yes the highest grossing which means we can expect some bullshhhh scoring to get a rematch going...guaranteed. I held off betting for this same reason...too big of a fight to leave it as a one and done. Get Ready for "The One 2" May 2014.

Perhaps the threat of bull**** scoring is the reason for why Floyd is going for the knockout. Even if he doesn't win by KO, he'll pummel the **** out of Alvarez and give him a beating by being more aggressive.

"Even some of the media guys who are in Top Rank's pocket, even those guys have to admit now - the difference between us and the second biggest promotional company in the world, which is Top Rank, and the [gap] is getting bigger by the day."

Imagine if they charged that much for the PPV for Oscar-Floyd? Or Tyson-Holyfield....
With the adjusted numbers Oscar-Floyd does a little under $180 million.....

                    as for the promotional firms,

ill go with top rank who has a strong track record of taking young fighters and making them into great ppv stars. Golden Boy has yet to produce a figther from beginning stage to ppv hall of fame star.
