  • Comments Thread For: Canelo: Alfredo Angulo Was The Best Option For 3/8

Former champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (42-1-1, 30KOs) says his compatriot, hard Mexican puncher Alfredo Angulo, was the best possible option to headline a Showtime Pay-Per-View event on March 8 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. IBF 154-pound champion Carlos Molina, and WBA 154-pound interim-champ Erislandy Lara, were also options.

Looking forward to the fight. El perro is going to land a few shots but canelo wins this one. By ref stoppage or ud . I dont see canelo laying angulo flat. But come on, really this is not a ppv fight.

To have Sauls fights on ppv has been the plan this whole time. And so it begins.

Kid has a point. A PPV would've been heard to sell against Molina or Lara. Especially Molina.

            "Nobody wants to see running."

Would be ironic if Angulo tags this fool and has him running for his dear life. Like when Cotto's brother put his ass on the ropes.

in ppv fights there should be exciting fights since we have to pay we should get good fights, but choosing Angulo? no,they could have picked Kirkland,he comes to fight too and won his last fight in a good way,but he's right about the selection to make exciting fights for ppv, someone like Molina isn't right,i can already picture it,one, two, hold,,,one, two, hold,,all night long, thats bad

                unbiased and real :

                Canelo made major mistakes

He came in under weight and you could easily see it. He was stifled and stiff his balance was off especially in the first rounds

He should have fought JR like Maidana fought Boner,,,I was disapointed in that but you could tell JR was happy about , although it took Jr a few rounds to realize it.

Canelo wasn't right about folks liking runners, boxingscene is full of folks that love runners, Jr's boys inparticular,

Would be a shame for Saul, even worse for other jr. Middleweights calling him out for that paycheck.

Canelo won't do 250k in PPV buys, he may be a big draw in San Antonio when the tickets are 4 for $25.00. But this is PPV and people with good sense will say, why pay to see a guy fight who just had his butt handed to him by an aging fighter. Canelo is going to lose anyway a d he'll be another hype job exposed like Nonito was against Rigo...........
