  • Comments Thread For: Joel Diaz on Bradley's Return, Gamboa PEDs, Khan-Diaz

On Tuesday afternoon, I caught up with Indio, Calif.-based trainer Joel Diaz.

Known best for his work with WBO welterweight champion Tim Bradley, Diaz actually reached out to make mention of his younger brother Julio.

Last month in Los Angeles, Julio defied the odds in going tooth and nail against undefeated welterweight contender Shawn Porter, eventually settling for split-draw verdict after ten brisk rounds.

Having held portions of the lightweight championship on two separate occasions in the past, the 33-year-old Julio had been written off by many heading into the contest but showed skill and fortitude in pushing Porter to the limit.

Joel would love nothing more than to see his brother face off with British star Amir Khan, who is actively pursuing a suitable opponent for his April 20th return.

Speaking with Joel, he highlighted why Julio is deserving of the match with Khan while also giving his take on Bradley’s scheduled March 16th return as well as the recent PED scandal involving standout Cuban talent and former featherweight champion Yuriorkis

So this dude thinks Gamboa is on PED not just cause of the article but cause he spars bigger guys? He's a trainer he should know people spar bigger guys all the time and 154 lbs ain't ****, Gamboa walks around 160. Now if you tell me he was hurting LHW or some **** or HW like Mr Golovkin then let's talk about that. But 154 fkin lbs? Come on man.

All I know is that it's time for Tim to come back on the scene and put the world on notice.

Diaz says "these promoters won't work with each other".... Nah bro, top rank burns bridges and what happens is golden boy is under no obligation to help out any of there fighters, maybe Bradley should have thought of that before signing with top rank...

For the longest arum was able to lure fighters away cause he waved the pacquiao carrot in their face and these fighters never thought about anything past that (ie Bradley).. Schaeffer let arum do that meanwhile signing the complete 140-147 lb div right under their noses... Before you know it golden boy controls those divisions and not arum is screwed..

Truth is any fighter in that division would be dumb not to sign with gb, like Peterson said," they got the fighters "

You knew that when Bradley signed with TR. It was bradley's choice he made the decision now live with it.

I have nothing against Diaz, but I think its funny how he says his brother should have won his last fight instead of receiving a draw, yet he truly believes Bradley actually won against Pacquiao lol

March 16? That's not much notice. He must be training already without an opponent. Hopefully they get him one soon.

Not always ready to sign the contract though. Was Bradley already signed with TR when he ducked Khan?
