  • Comments Thread For: Team Maidana Reject Thurman Fight: Explain The Issues

BoxingScene.com ran a story on Saturday where hard hitting Marcos Maidana’s fight with Keith Thurman, which was rumored to have fallen apart, was still being negotiated between Golden Boy Promotions and Maidana’s manager Sebastian Contursi.

While Contursi and Golden Boy are indeed still in negotiations, it’s not for a possible Thurman fight for Maidana. Rather they are negotiating to find a replacement opponent for the Argentina native.

So Maidana thinks he's a big name and wants his tune up like he feels he deserves? Really?
What was Maidanas excuse for not fighting Tim Bradley as I can't remember that one?

Al Haymon is Thruman's manager, in that case Maidana already lost on 2 of the 3 judges score cards.

good thing Maidana pulled out before he got screwed over by the judges.

The fight that was turned down of the 3 they chose was probably ginger. Golden boy probably realized that while from a business standpoint the fight was absolutely doable, they felt sorry for the stupid fans & knew deep down that that fight was just a load of crap.

Maidana-Marquez should be made, but the promotional war might not allow such a rumble.

I agree 100%. Whatever the outcome they can rematch eachother or put ortiz in the mix since he lost to both.

Maidana already said that he was training to fight Thurman. So how was it they didn't know it was Thurman if Maidana knew it was Thurman? They saw his record and size and were intimidated, obviously. Where did they get the idea Thurman was a 154 pounder when he has never fought at that weight? He is in the same division as Alexander and should not have agreed to the fight then.

Wow. Nothing like coming out and saying "this guy is too hard to fight, we want someone we can easily beat."

                  What a joke.
