  • Comments Thread For: DiBella: Mayweather Can Get 80-20 Split, 150 For Martinez!

Lou DiBella, promoter of middleweight king Sergio Martinez (49-2-2, 28KOs), is willing to go above and beyond to secure a fight with five division world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (42-0, 26KOs). DiBella is confident that Mayweather will defeat WBA 154-pound champion Miguel Cotto on May 5th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. DiBella told BoxingScene.com that Martinez is willing to accept a financial split of 80-20 for a Mayweather fight, and Martinez would drop down to a catch-weight of 150-pounds.

    Sergio will **** floyd up.

Too slick for floyd to pot shot him, too accurate for floyd to slip and slide his punches for 12 rounds, and he simply hits too damm hard, floyd will get chopped down .

Not at 150, sergio would literally be sticks and bones at 150, and you gotta be at your best to beat Floyd.... If I was Floyd I would take him up on his offer, since he is so desperate, but it will be interesting to see how all of this plays out....

Remember Sergio is a lean cut guy..... He would be losing in excess of x10 pounds of muscle, not fat......

Martinez knows he only has 2 years tops left at the top of the game...he needs to get the money while he can and he knows it.

if floyd decides to take this fight he should fight martinez at his best...

martinez can easily make 154 and seeing as mayweather is fighting cotto at the full weight of 154 and doesnt believe in catch weights he shouldnt have martinez come down

floyd will never weigh in over 154 and martinez can easily make it anyway imho so it would be a decent weight to meet at for both fighters

None of the 'two' will fight Martinez.

the weight and money will be tempting for floyd to accept the fight but i dont think floyd will get the credit he would have in beating a 150 pounder sergio martinez, people will say if he defeat sergio at 150lbs,he didnt fought the best sergio...and what if sergio beats floyd at 150lbs??people will say floyd was exposed by a 38 or 39,weight drained sergio martinez..so i think at 150lbs is loss loss situation for floyd..its either floyd vs sergio fought at 160lbs or sergio accept andre wards challenge..

150 would be bull****...Floyd now fights at 154 so 154 is a given...also he dont like catchweights...
