Joe Pecci in Casino had a pretty bad death, because he had to watch his brother die the same way first. Bonnie and Clyde got shot the f*** up in their car, pretty gruesome stuff for a black and white movie. Not sure you can call them gangsters though.

I watch gangster flicks, and root for the bad guy, and turn it off before it ends because the bad guy dies.
The way Joe Pesci dies in Casino is still the most brutal thing I've seen in a movie in this regard. That **** is tough for anyone to watch and it has to be.
Made to watch your brother beaten still life and buried alive, then you get beaten vegetable and buried alive. Over the top.
