    On May 1st in Moscow, the current WBO middleweight world champion Dmitry Pirog (20-0) retained his belt winning a twelve round decision against Japanese contender Nobuhiro Ishida (24-8). On May 4th in Levallois, undefeated Frenchman Hassan N’Dam (27-0) won a twelve round decision against the tough Ukrainian boxer Maksym “The Tiger” Bursak (24-1) to capture the WBO's “interim” middleweight crown.

    Well that sucks! Geale vs Pirog had me excited, although this match up won't be too bad either. I just like unifications.

      IMO this is a better matchup than Geale-Pirog...make it happen

        They should let Pirog try and unify and then enforce the mando.

            Pirog may drop that belt and go on with Geale

            both fighters are huge fights in that division

              Doesn't the WBO have a rule that unification is allowed before a mandatory?

                Sounds like the WBO is bent on making this take precedence so it's up to N'Jikam team if they'll settle for a step-a-side and let Pirog-Geale go ahead and then fight the winner if the IBF doesn't object at least it's a good match-up and N'Jikam could definetly win but prefer them to allow the unification first

                    Some sanctioning bodies force a mandatory before unification. I can't remember a specific example off the top of my head though
