Why has Martinez been so damn good at 160?

      since he started late.... he's probably reaching his absolute boxing prime. His Boxing IQ has never been higher than it is right now. Even if his body was slowing down. His boxing IQ was growing.


      sometimes when fighters become champs they start fighting better.... becoming a champion isn't just obtaining a title to some fighters. It makes them want to live up to it.

                  Hopkins faced a lot of bums at middleweight as well. Martinez (like Hopkins) is calling out WWs too.

                    he's a greasy fast southpaw with some pop to go with all of that shine.

                    he's tough, too. he showed that in the chavez jr fight, the first williams go, a few rounds with pavlik, a rough patch or two against macklin and barker, etc.

                      just looking at his last 3 fights, none of those guys are top fighters, maybe that would explain it!
