  • Mayweather mail: How will this affect his career and skills

    By Ben Thompson _ December 25, 2011
The news of Floyd Mayweather's sentencing
continues to send shockwaves throughout the
boxing community, sparking a ton of reaction from
fans and media alike. The emails have not stopped
pouring with questions about how this will affect
Mayweather's career and a potential showdown with
Manny Pacquiao. Although I don't have all the
answers, I do have an opinion, so check out what I
had to say to inquiring minds who want to know.

Add another bullet point to the Pac/***** paradigm.:

Floyd baiting Manny into thinking he will lose his skills while in jail.

Just like Manny baited Floyd by looking like crap against JMM.

Assuming he can work out in prison it shouldn't affect his career that much. There will only be an effect if he allows himself to fall out of shape whilst in Prison, that being the case his career will probably finish as it is crucial for older fighters to stay in shape.

I can't believe some people think 45-60 days in jail will ruin Floyd's skills. I know he was working out while he was on his 21 month and 16 month layoffs, but if he returns in July, it'd be 9-10 months off, sparring and training in November-December, resting in jail during January-February, than more training from March through June. He'll be fine. Pretty much the same as he was against Ortiz.
