Glenn Donaire makes the third ring appearance since ending a three year hiatus year. The flyweight contender faces Omar Soto in a matchup of former title challengers.
Both fighters made weight for Friday’s main event at the A La Carte Pavilion in Tampa, Florida. Donaire 19-4-1 (10KO) weighed right at the flyweight limit of 112 lb, while Soto was slightly lighter at 111.5 lb.
Weight was an issue the last time Soto (22-9-2, 15KO) was in the ring. The Mexican contender was more than three pounds over the light flyweight limit in his title challenge against Roman Gonzalez, thus making him ineligible for Gonzalez’ belt originally at stake.
