I wont talk down Ronaldo as he was the first great player I remember watching in the World cups (2002), but Cristiano is surely close now.

Ronaldo is more explosive and took over games. They also play different positions, Ronaldo, the striker, scores many more goals and dominates games. Christiano Ronaldo is more of a finesse winger who can make some really nice plays but often facilitates.

At this point, there is really no comparison, Ronaldo is viewed as one of the best players of all time and CR is not even viewed as the best of his generation.

Also being second to Messi is nothing to be ashamed of as many put Messi above Ronaldo (Brazilian) and in the discussion for best player ever.
