Is anybody even remotely interested in this card? I mean I'm definitely going to watch that & Green/Ward tonight but this seems like the most pointless card in UFC history. I mean it's point is to crown to the winner of the season, but the big fight on there is Hamil vs Jardine, SERIOUSLY? That's a fight night mid card fight. Look at every other TUF finales...
1st season- Shamrock vs Rich Franklin
-Shamrock was a legend who wasn't proven to be past it yet against a hungry up and comer Rich Franklin who became a star after this.
2nd Season- Diego Sanchez vs Nick Diaz
-Two young stars trying to make a name, Diego just won TUF 1 and was undefeated. Nick Diaz was a rising young star to who had been in a some classics.
3rd Season- Kenny Florian vs Sam Stout
-I know right now it doesn't seem like the brightest main event looking back BUT IT WAS THE RETURN OF THE LIGHTWEIGHT DIVISION! Not to mention the winner fought Sean Sherk for the lightweight title.
4th Season- Matt Serra vs Chris Lytle
-Winner got a shot at GSP, and Serra even beat him.
5th Season- BJ Penn vs Jens Pulver
-Enough said. Probably the best one because the coaches fought on it!
6th Season- Roger Huerta vs Clay Guida
-Huerta was an exciting rising star looking get into the title picture
7th season- Evan Tanner vs Kendall Grove
-Probbably the 2nd weakest one but Tanner was a legend and the rest of the card was pretty solid.
8th season- Phillipe Nover vs. Efrain Escudero
-Both were undefeated and Dana even said Nover reminded him of GSP. It was decent at least. Both had upside.
9th season- Diego Sanchez vs Clay Guida
-Do I gotta say anything else?
10th season- Jon Jones vs Matt Hamil
-If you know who Jon Jones is, you know damn well this was a solid main event because he will be champion in a few years, ALMOST GUARANTEED if you've seen him fight And he's only 23. The Light heavyweight GSP at least in the comparison of how GSP rose to stardom.
You see atleast the rest of them had relevancy. Except Kendall vs Tanner which was the same kind of fight(loser leaves) fight, but at least tanner was a legend and Kendall is an exciting fighter to watch win or lose. Jardine's just weird with a weak chin even though he does have impressive victories but is so inconsistent. I have so much respect for Hamil but I'm just saying, he's no stud. Both are 3-4 fights away from a title fight at the least and that's if they win impressively, beat another top 20 guy, and then beat a top 10, and then a top 5. I just wish they at least had a rising star on this card that you had hope for in the future or something. It could end up being a good fight but I think if Hamil is smart, he'll bum rush him and take Jardine out within the first 2 minutes.
It's a free night of fights so meh, who am I to complain? I enjoy MMA for the fights. Not the fighters. Just wish I had something to be exciting about for this card.
