Cedric Kushner described the situation involving heavyweight David Tua as “volatile” after Kushner was stood up by the fighter a day after Tua lost a close decision to Monte Barrett on Aug. 13 in Tua’s home country of New Zeland. Kushner was in discussions with advisor Shelly Finkel about a possible fight with WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko should Tua have won the fight. But the loss to Barrett most likely scuttles those plans, the promoter admitted, and now Kushner, who still has Tua under contract, has been left in the lurch by the mercurial fighter as to what comes next. Tua - Barrett 3 -- make it happen. The first two fights were close and entertaining, so why not? These guys are both at the same stage of their careers and they're not going to beat a Klitschko brother. But they can do one more exciting fight with each other to clear the air and make some nice money.

yes, the state of the HW division IS that pathetic and has been for a long time -- that's why the K bros, who are both very good but hardly invincible fighters, haven't been even remotely tested (except by Peter that one time) in about a million years

To be fair it's mostly Vitali who's been taking on the old men and the hasbeens, but then he's an old man himself who's more or less fighting because he wants to and not out of any desire to be the number one guy, whom I think most would concede is his younger brother. Still, the fact that guys like Briggs and Tua (and that horrible lurch Wach) have all been considered opponents, with Briggs actually getting the shot, don't paint the rosiest of pictures of the heavyweight division, to say the least.

Tua is just like Butterbean a sideshow attraction. Tua has done nothing but get bigger now with a 64 inch waist.

weak HW division or not, the klitschko brothers would be a legit challenge for ANY HW of ANY era. . . Back to Tua - if he can't get up and get himself in better shape than he was against barrett, he needs to retire. Dude looked straight bloated. Im a HUGE fan of Tua but I don't want to see him waddle into the ring for paydays. All or nothing. . .

Bring him back against Sam Peter, or rubber match with Barrett if he's still serious about boxing, and then go from there.
