The favorite proved why but he had to work for it. The defeated man showed the world so many of the characteristics that make him easy to respect. Then he took it up a notch with a display of sportsmanship and class in the post-fight interviews. He took his loss like a man, the same way he fights.

Ward is the man at 168, no question.

    Get in line Bute.

And no..... Oakland ^^ not Montreal..... deal with it.

Get in line???? He's been waiting in line for two years already, having been excluded from the Super 6 by Showtime.

Bute's willing to fight in Oakland, although it would be better if it were in MSG. All irrelevant because Ward doesn't think Bute deserves a shot yet, so Bute will fight Froch first, Ward later. Unfortunately. Still I guess once Bute's beaten Froch in style, that'll raise his profile outside Canada and make the Ward-Bute fight easier to sell. I suppose. And Bute-Froch should make for an entertaining fight or fights. But it would still be better if Ward wanted to fight Bute now instead of coming up with lame reasons for not wanting to take it yet, IMO.

It's fitting. Ward just went through 2 years of grinding fights to get where he is at, Bute should be forced to do a little more before he gets a shot at him.

So what fight would you like to see Ward fight next?

Taking his mando and further building his drawing power in NoCal is smart and good long term business. It's also a competitive fight despite Ant. Dirrell's lack of experience. Bute-Froch is great stuff and a fine way to make a good fight bigger (assuming Bute wins, and I wouldn't assume that at all).

This has nothing to do with Bute needing to do more. He is far and away the biggest draw in class and far and away the next most deserving to face Ward. This is about building some more gate and Ward cashing a check or two without being locked into the Six's payment structure. As long as he doesn't fight Jesse Brinkley level guys (and let's not act like Bute couldn't find anything better than a couple of his foes) it's not the end of the world for this to simmer 8-10 months.

He's been doing nothing, while the other guys have been taking all the risks.

Whether by choice, or by design, those are the facts.

I got no problem with Ward fighting him next, but Bute will likely need to forget about thinking that he calls the shots..... because Ward is the man at 168, no question.

MSG would be great, but Bute will likely have to fight where he is told, and it wont be in Canada.

And Froch and Ward can both be forgiven for taking a stay-busy fight next up.

              Think about this.....
Ward had an out-of-competition stay-busy fight, against Bika, who is ranked higher than anyone Bute has ever fought.

So fkn what that Bute has a title ?

              Ward's stay-busy fights > Bute's defenses.

Whether by design, or by choice, Bute can stand in line.

It aint gonna hurt him to rack up a couple of top defenses, is it ?

Be daring and fight Cloud at 175. Never going to happen.

                Pascal is also acceptable.

                At 168? Kessler rematch.

Absolutely. Although I got no problem with Ward fighting Bute next.

And like Dave suggested, MSG is beautiful this time of year

If Bute gets to walk around all of the Super-6 competitors without fighting any of them and handed a shot at the champ, then he shouldn't get to call any of the shots. He can fight in Oakland for all I care.

Bute, or a stay-busy fight, until the other guys have jockeyed for position.
