  • Comments Thread For: Marcos Maidana Talks Matthysse History, Malignaggi, More

In the 140-pound division, there is no fighter with as much momentum at the moment as interim WBC champion Lucas Matthysse.

Facing off with Mike Dallas Jr. inside of the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday night, Matthysse came through with a crushing first round knockout that seemed to send shockwaves throughout the boxing community.

Catching up the Argentinean’s countryman and fellow prizefighter Marcos Maidana recently, I asked for his feelings on Matthysse’s destructive performance.

He said 3 out of 4 of the fights with Matthysse were close. Anyone know what happened in the 4th one?

Maidana won the first three. The fourth fight was a draw.

          Tie.

But Maidana right, he will be ducked by the likes of Ghost. And Khan won't grant a rematch.

Ha.. He said they won't dare face him. War Maidana!

You can tell that Lucas and Marcos have a great deal of respect for each other

Maybe I misread but I think he said he just remember 3 of the 4. Maybe one wasnt memorable.

The all Argentinian showdown should of happened when Maidana was campaigning at 140. GBP's is just trying to steer Lucas towards a different direction than Garcia! I recall Scheafer stating the winner of Lucas-Ajose to fight Garcia next and then he goes off and signs the fight with Garcia-Judah. Scheafer used Lucas as a bodyguard for Garcia against Ajose! GBP's needs to quit protecting its undefeated fighters and put them in with contenders that present a real challenge!

Great interview. Man, I love Chino. He's a beast, but keeps it real.

I remember reading a couple years ago that the last time they fought was for their countries spot in the Olympics. Maidana won.
