  • Comments Thread For: Froch-DeGale Eyed For February, Chavez Unlikely

Promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport is distancing his fighter, IBF/WBA 'regular' super middleweight champion Carl Froch (33-2, 24KOs), from a potential clash with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

Hearn had several discussions with Top Rank regarding the fight but they continue to have issues between Chavez, who believes he's a free agent and refuses to agree to any fight unless all of the promotional terms are satisfactory.

You know Froch will fight DeGale, too. He's awesome like that.

Well, here's the passing of the torch fight. DeGale will probably do better than Groves. Froch is 37, DeGale is a boxer, he will outbox Froch IMO.

Chavez Jr is a coward plain and simple this has nothing to do with Top Rank not trying to get him good fights. Chavez Jr was offered 7 million to fight GGG with a 2 fight extension. Those two fights he was guaranteed to make seven figures where he could have fought average fighters like Vera, Lee, Manfredo, Rubio, Zbik and so on. The thing is Chavez jr is a average fighter. Cant wait till somebody knocks this chump out.

He has the same weakness. Fades late. Froch stops Degale.

Can we not have a Froch v GGG instead?

Outside of me simply wanting Froch to see through his dream to fight in Vegas, this is the fight I preferred to see out of the choices he listed.

Southpaw dude, they're not the same. Last young southpaw Froch fought who could box and had a good amateur background was Dirrell, a young southpaw underdog with no big wins but nice amateur background. Bute was southpaw and Froch destroyed him but he wasn't young and does not boast a Gold Medal in the Olympics.
