International humanitarian law prohibits starvation of civilians as a method of warfare and...It is also prohibited to impose collective punishment on civilians thus making it illegal for Israel to block foreign aid into Gaza thus making the blockade illegal

yes i agree but the Israelis get guns from the USA which makes it easy for the Israelis to block in the Gaza strip!! Which is in fact illegal

The Israeli blockade allows for the import of food and there has been zero reduction of medical aid while the blockade has been in place. One criticism is that not enough food has been permitted into Gaza since the blockade has begun but now Israel has relaxed the restrictions on what aid is permitted allowing for more fresh food to be delivered.

Israel is not actually blocking foreign aid into Gaza. It does restrict the type of aid that is permitted preventing things like weapons or materials used to make weapons from entering, but to suggest that all foreign aid is blocked is a complete lie. Even the flotilla engaged in illegal blockade running was permitted an opportunity to disembark in an Israeli port and deliver their non-contraband items over land.

As for the idea of "collective punishment", this is a matter confused by the use of civilian paramilitary fighters by Hamas and is open to debate. The use of bloackade to prevent entry of items like ammonium nitrate fertilizer and construction materials that have been used to make rockets for use against Israeli civilians is legitimate as long as medical and food aid along with other humanitarian relief is permitted.

A big problem with the anti-Jewish propaganda that is reiterated as fact by boxingscene's armchair humanitarians is that it is so often very free with the truth, claiming that a blockade prevents anything and everything from entering or leaving Gaza. This is not the case. There has been no disruption in the delivery of medicine into Gaza, there have been some restrictions on food items but these have been relaxed following the fallout from the Turkish publicity stunt, and while there have been restrictions on fuel delivery into Gaza (fuel which was routinely used in the manufacture of explosives and seized to power Hamas's military vehicles) which has resulted in blackouts, the majority of electricity in Gaza still comes from Israel and has not been disrupted.

The situation is complicated. Israel still needs to do more, and in my opinion this means to step up their delivery of humanitarian relief paid for by Israel and to petition the UN for supervision of the delivery and use of items classed as contraband such as fuel, fertilizer and construction materials.

Interestingly on the subject of "punishing civilians" this is precisely what Hamas and Hezbollah have been engaging in for decades by launching rocket attacks deliberately targeting soft civilian targets in Israel and prior to the fence being built in sending suicide bombers against Israel's most vulnerable.

You might think that building the fence is an ugly tactic but if Canada was sending suicide bombers over the border to the US you'd expect a similar measure to be put in place in short order.

Judging an aid ship not on the action it does but on which politician supported it is not very smart.

May aswell support apartheid in South Africa because Castro opposed it.

Bad analogy considering the blockade runners were also radical lefties like their sponser McKinney AND they were also sponsered by known Islamofascist groups opporating out of Turkey. Radical Reds + Radical Suicide Bombers = Bad News. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out just what kind of "aid" they were bringing.
