  • Comments Thread For: Winky Wright-Matthew Macklin is Signed For April 9

According to Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer, and a source close to promoter Frank Warren, former world champion Winky Wright will end a near two-year ring absence on April 9 when the 39-year-old will take on middleweight Matthew Macklin of England, likely on the under card of a main event matching Mexican, three-division champions, Juan Manuel Marquez and Erik Morales in a lightweight (135 pounds) clash at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Wright wide UD. He might not be at his peak but is far too good for Macklin. I was looking forward to Macklin vs Barker, but at least now there's a greater chance of the card being shown in the UK.

Has it really been almost 2 years since he lost to Williams? Man time flies. Good for Wright though.

Well this one came out of nowhere... Wright UD. Macklin is decent but not at Winky's level.

Weird fight. If Winky has anything left, he'll win comfortably

Sturm wouldn't have the balls to fight Winky, even if he lost this one. Sturm is a fraud and a joke just like all other German fighters.

                  macklin is nothing special.

but fair play for being brave/stupid enough to dare face winky.

                  easy early KO for winky.

glad to see him back, and he does need a tune up like this to be better for the real challanges.

winky, kirkland, pirog and martinez could make some great fights in the middleweight divsion.

And why does it say Matthew Macklin "of England"? I coulda sworn he was Irish...
