  • Comments Thread For: Ricky Hatton Will Officially Announce His Retirement

According to the Manchester Evening News, former two division champion Ricky Hatton (45-2, 32KOs) is going to officially announce his retirement from the sport of boxing. Hatton has been inactive since suffering a brutal two round knockout at the hands of Manny Pacquiao in May of 2009. Since the loss, Hatton has battled depression and substance abuse problems, but he also started a very promising run as a promoter with his family-owned company, Hatton Promotions. During his inactivity, Hatton would consistently deny comeback rumors, but he always left the door open for a possible return.

Good luck! And stay away from drugs. Floyd Sr. is really a bad influence for teaching Hatton to sniff! LOL

I FEEL A LITTLE SORRY FOR MY MAN RICKY,
he did do really well to get to 41/0 and he beat atleast 10/15 world class opponents.
his fan base here in england was massive.
alot can be said for that, he always made it exciting and when he went to the states and put collazo over in the opening seconds it really made a statement in the u.s.
he has had some ups and downs during his career especially against the gritty eamon mcgee.....excellent fight..oh! and not forgetting that early one when he stopped the other fellah and the geezers mum jumped throught the ropes to have a go at ricky! cant think of the blokes name but, it was funny.
however, his last fight was a real killer to somebody who was unbeaten at the weight to just get wiped out and especially so early would be hurtful to anybody with only one recorded loss to date.
        i was gutted for him.
