The Second Annual Worsties

With the various Annual awards being put out by the major MMA sites, Fightlinker has decided to go the opposite direction and highlight the worst of the worst. The aim of the Worsties is to be the Golden Raspberries of MMA.

Subject nominations have been going from Dec. 21st and will be open till Jan 1st. Final voting starts the 2nd and ends the 11th.

Worst Decision

Whether by an inch or a mile, a bad decision is a bad decision. The worst decision could be one which is just utterly incomprehensible like Chase Beebe vs Mike Easton, or high profile like Lyoto Machida vs Shogun Rua. Just like when explaining to kids what inappropriate touching is all about: if it feels wrong, it probably is wrong. So which decisions from 2009 left you feeling molested and dirty?

Worse Announcer

By far, the most **** we’ve gotten over the Worsties has been because of the Worst Announcer category. Last year, Frank Trigg was pretty pissed about being included and Mauro Ranallo didn’t seem very impressed with us when we met. But hey, you gonna shoot the messenger? We don’t nominate anyone. You do. So the question is who you gonna nominate this year?

Worst Asskicking

We’re happy to debut another new category for this year’s Worsties: Worst Asskicking. It’s not too complicated: who got the **** kicked out of them the worst in a fight this year?

Worst Stoppage

You know the old spiel: refs have the hardest job in the blah blah and so on and so forth. They stop a fight too late and someone could get hurt. They stop it too early and … well, nothing really happens other than we pull our hair out in frustration. And so this is an opportunity for us to take that frustration, concentrate it into rays of hate, and point it at the refs who perpetrated the worst early stoppages. Or raise the flag and say “Whoa, man. That late stoppage was not cool.” Let ‘er rip, people.
