Why even bother, this was proven when people discredited Ward for beating a young Dawson after he dropped in weight. So why should Floyd fight a 37 year old Sergio who would drop a division for a pay day?this is crazy,it would be a **** fight and Sergio would be drained and ineffective.terrible fight

There will always be haters. There are people panning Floyd for choosing to fight Guerrero just as there are those who criticized him for fighting Ortiz.

Martinez has asked for a year to lose the weight necessary to fight at 154 (likely would not need a year for 154) or a catchweight below that in as healthy manner as possible. That is more time than Dawson had and it is possible Sergio may be better at doing it since Dawson is almost 20 pounds above 168 on fight night. I know he is old, but we will never know unless it happens.

Martinez is the most marketable fight after Canelo (weighs the same as Martinez on fight night), so there is still a small chance it could take place. He is also a top P4P fighter, so even with a disadavantage he may put up a better showing than say an Alexander.

I also still do think Ward's performance against Dawson was pretty good even if Dawson was weight drained.

People wouldn't bring up the age issue because Floyd is 35 himself. As for the weight issue, if Sergio says he can make the weight without a problem but it ends up effecting his performance that's his own problem.

How often are 37-year olds still boxing at a high level?

Nah i wouldnt say that. Sergio said himself he would come down to jr middleweight, even at 150lbs.
