from an overall perspective, hov is the best for ME

but i respect everyones opinions, and dont feel mine is a fact. lol i'm not an opinion nazi.

i will say, it baffles me when people say that the argument cant be made though. Jay has done alot, for a long time. I'll leave it at that cuz i'm too lazy to explain everything.

          Things going for Jay:

He's gone platinum more consistently than any other rapper

No rapper's ever been able to bridge the gap between street and mainstream as easily as he can

          Things against him:

Skill-wise he really isn't the best at anything, Rakim, Nas, Biggie can do everything better than he can.

Mainstream-wise, yeah, he probably is the GOAT, but in terms of an actual body of work, no dice

I'm a fan, I just think there are greater artists than him. I base GOAT status on mainly 2 things: 1.lyrical ability & 2. Body of work. Jay has a great body of work, but falls far too short lyrically (aside from being really good at claiming to be great so frequently that people start believing it) to be considered greater than the likes of Nas, Rakim, Scarface, LL Cool J and the like, add KRS-ONE, Masta Ace, Q-Tip........

Yeah you can make the argument he has done a lot world wide and has had success in other business ventures as well. Plus he has the skill and body of work to show.

I don't consider him GOAT but I wouldn't really trip if someone had him as GOAT.

well he is great, no question there, whether hes the g.o.a.t. is what your disagreeing with, right?

as long as your willing to admit he has a great body of work.....thats my main thing that bothers me, when people act like jay doesnt have songs for days.
