  • Why is Floyd held to a higher standard?

    Example:

Floyd can fight Canelo, Martinez, Trout etc... but he couldnt or should not have fought Marquez, Clottey or Ortiz.

at the same time Pac can fight Margarito, Clottey(even thought they are "bigger") and whoever he seems to have an advantage over and get huge credit for the wins.

( you say well because of size.) But Floyd cAN FIGHT pAC....

But if we say Pac should fight Canelo, Martinez, Trout.....This is absurd and out of the question?

On the same note Cotto can fight all those guys too and its no problem( a fighter Pac fought and beat).

For me the answer is...Whether you hate Floyd or love him your giving him respect because inside you know he is great or greater than Manny.

    Opinions?

why do you have to judge one fighter against another?

why cant this fighter A be his own man and be judge by his merit and accomplishment in the sport and fighter B like wise.

Who said Floyd shouldn't fight Clottey??? It wasn't until after Pac tooled his ass, that people were saying how garbage he was.

Besides, Floyd's the one that's the self proclaimed G.O.A.T.

Why shouldn't boxing fans hold him to the HIGHEST standard.

Oh great, you beat Ortiz. That's such a great barometer of your greatness.

We all know he has skills. What we want to know is, are those skills enough to beat guys like P-Will (prime), Cotto (prime), Margarito (prime), Pacquiao (prime)??? Does he have what it takes to overcome there skill set? Does he have the heart? Does he have the chin? What happens if he's really getting tested? Does he have an effective plan B against elite competition? Does plan B include running? How will he react to certain situations? Goes on and on.

Guess we'll never know, since he ducked a whole damn division for 2 years.

      Floyd = Fugazi

Ex: Imagine if Hearns never fought Leonard. Hearns fan boys would be saying how there's no way he loses to Leonard, let alone by TKO. He's too tall, too long, hits too hard. Ray Leonard can't take those shots. He can't bang with Hearns. He'll be running the whole time. etc.

That's why you have to actually fight, in order to test your greatness. Non of this fantasy land BS that Flowmos try and incorporate in their arguments.

          Simple

when you talk so much crap you will always be held to a higher standard.

Floyd constantly claims he is the greatest, nobody can beat him, he is better than Ali, Robinson, and all the ATG's, this is why he gets criticized, Pacquiao and Cotto don't talk crap and don't go around every day claiming they are the best ever and that nobody can beat them.

Nobody likes a talker who doesnt back up his mouth, Floyd kept saying how he would beat Pac easy, yet never fought him even when Pac agreed to the testing. If you can beat hte man easy why never fight him? Why let other guys have a shot, and why let JMM take your glory?

          its basic common sense.

floyd is held to a higher standard becasuse he is the best but if everyone is going to hold him to a higher standard than everyone else they should atleast admit he is the best instead of talking about how overrated he is yet holding him to a higher standard than fighters who they feel are better than him

Clottey or Ortiz were fine names to have, but they don't really get much credit because Clottey's non-effort and because of the way the Ortiz fight ended. Floyd vs Marquez was a joke and Pac vs Marquez III was also a joke. Pac vs Marquez IV not so much.

They were held to the exact same standard until recently. Just because a bunch of nuthuggers on each side talk a bunch of sh** doesn't change that.
