There is a chance they might have been

MORE POPULAR. Because boxing were a lot more mainstream (compare to now) back then.

The Lewis Holyfield fights made the front pages of numerous major newspapers and not just a 'section'. Tyson's come back was talked about on every major news station. All of this might have indirectly robbed off on the 'lesser stars' giving them more attention then say now.

It all depends. Its hard to say. Fact is American HW's will always be more popular if they are good. However, the lil guys can be more exciting. It can go a bunch of different ways. Im assuming that you mean in that era but with the 24/7 still, right?

IMO, Floyd and Pac are bigger superstars of today with the big help of the internet, aside from their prowess and skills.

Boxers of yesteryears rely on a fight-to-fight showing off basis and the promoters are the bigger factors how they become famous, for people to notice them and eventually make it mainstream, some even by word of mouth.

My answer, they'll make a dent perhaps but not as big as how they fare today.

the HW champ used to be a global figure
no way these guys are outshining the big guys
back then, HW's were exciting to watch
Oscar took over when Tyson fell off
he wasn't the face yet while Tyson was still popular

ya but say Tyson Holyfield Lewis Oscar all had that 24.7 and the marketing Pac and Floyd had

I'm thinking will they be even bigger then they are now

BECAUSE of Tyson Holyfield Oscar ?

Because there's more stars back then in boxing, more stars= more draw

Or will it be that the likes of Tyson Oscar and HOlyfield just take a lot of their fanbase.

yes, but Larry wasn't a spectacular HW champion
he was a respected champ, not a global figure
he didn't command the attention Tyson or even Holyfield did
Cooney was a big event, but that's his biggest hurrah
can't see Pac and Floyd being big when Tyson and Holyfield were big
