  • Comments Thread For: Andy Lee: Chavez Jr. Turned Me Down, I Want Martinez

Lee: “I was just speaking to Lou [DiBella]. Chavez turned me down and doesn’t want to fight me. They tried to entertain the idea, but it’s not going to happen, I think. So we’ll see what happens. It looks like I’m going to be fighting March 17 at [Madison Square] Garden, but against who I don’t know yet.”

Is this evidence of JCC Jr. cherrypicking?

lol. . . if this fight happens, i will be betting on lee. . . hopefully the bookies will have him at a 3-4 to 1 'dog. . .

their fight will look EXACTLY like Pavlik/Martinez from rounds 5-8, except for the entire fight. . . With Lee jabbing over Martinez's jab, and just outboxing him. . . Nothing too exciting, no huge shots exchanged. . . It really won't be the most exciting fight; might even look like a chess-type sparring match. . .

well, simply put, chavez isn't as good as lee, and arum and his handlers know it. . . lee has had an extensive amateur career, while chavez has only been boxing for 5-7 years. . . i can't blame cahvez for not wanting to fight lee. . .

he's a 6'2'' southpaw with an excellent straight left, and a devastating lead right hook. . .

however, lee can be vulnerable for skilled boxers who aren't afraid to take it on the inside. . . i think gennady golovkin is lee's worst nightmare after evaluating him. . . a fighter like glen johnson would be hard too.

Lee can't fight Jr for 2 reasons: he's got a pulse and he's not a taxi driver, but Sergio would pick him apart...let's see how Sulaiman gets out of his words a few days ago saying Jr would be stripped if he doesn't fight Sergio...
