  • Comments Thread For: Bernard Hopkins Comments on Mosley, Wright Retirements

Earlier this week, future Hall of Famers "Sugar" Shane Mosley and Ronald "Winky "Wright announced their intentions to retire from boxing. Wright, 40-years-old and a former undisputed champion at 154, retired not long after Saturday's decision loss to middleweight contender Peter Quillin. Mosley, also 40 and a former three division champion, retired a few weeks after his decision loss to WBC 154-pound champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez.

Why retire when you're ranked #1, and can possibly beat numbers 2-10 in your division? And already have a win against the #2 guy? Cloud, Cleverly and Erdei don't beat Hopkins.

Uh, I don't know, maybe because he's pushing 50 and his last performance exemplified his age?

He's #2, he lost to Chad easy, he is pushing 50 and is 20 years older than his opponents. He will eventually get hurt if he keeps going, its only a matter of time. Hopefully, after seeing Winky and Sugar retire, Tarver, Glen Johnson, Hopkins, Jones, Holyfield and Toney follow their example.

He will lose eventually to those guys.
