The manager of WBC 154-pound champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (39-0-1, 29KOs), Jose 'Chepo' Reynoso, believes his boxer has a lot to lose in a possible fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr. (42-0, 26KOs) on May 5th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Reynoso and Canelo met with the executives from Golden Boy Promotions to discuss a possible fight against Mayweather. The two sides did not reach a final agreement, says Reynoso.

wow, what happens if canelo realizes its too early for him to take a one sided beating from floyd and he doesnt jump on the fight and cotto doesnt jump on the floyd fight either?

then who does floyd have to fight that will make him such money that kept him out of jail?

canelo is exciting but he is young, too green, lost 3/6 rounds to gomez, he wont win one round against floyd. he isnt ready for that fight. no way his team lets him take this fight, get shut out with the fan base and excitement he already has.

cotto vs floyd at 154 would be exciting but for cotto to do that he would have to drop arum for good and he knows arum would never take him back..cotto is a family man and realizes stability with arum is more important so he wont leave him..

i think those two are out.

who is left? the ghost? a good fighter but too small and no name for floyd?

floyd will have to rematch ortiz, which at least would have some buzz...

but guess what, it wont sell much because people are mad they lost 60 bucks from the first one...

At least the kid has balls and is willing to take risks. Don't think hes quite ready for Floyd yet, but would be interesting. Would love to see Canelo vs Cotto first.

Let me tell you this, Floyd is salivating at the prospect of fighting Canelo. A Canelo fight with Floyd would probably wipe out the Pacquiao-Marquez III TV record on Cinco de Mayo at that. This fight would bring the most $$$ with the LEAST RISK. Haven't you learned that yet following Floyd all these years? He is the premium cherry picker of all cherry pickers. We all know Gomez won more rounds but gassed out in the end. We all know Canelo is 21 YEARS OLD WTF!? We all know Canelo has had no notable fight "worthy of pound for pound greatest" (****h). But yes, he will be picked by "King" rubberduckie Floyd.

Cotto's in the same weight class as Canelo but Floyd will continue to duck him even if Cotto is past his prime. Even if Cotto had been physically destroyed by Pacquiao and his soul stolen by MaRgarito. Floyd would forever fear Pacquiao's leftover.

Guerrero? Floyd would have loved that fight. Don't believe all the bull**** that his name was floated just for press because Floyd threw his name out there and if the reaction was less violent he would sign him up in a heart beat!

Morales? Floyd knows when to avoid two clowns fighting on HBO PPV.

IF ITS PAC VS BRADLEY, AND COTTO VS CANELO, THEN THAT WOULD BE AWESOME. NOW FLOYD WILL HAVE TO FIGHT A GUY WHO WOULD BRING THE NEXT BEST REVENUE, ORTIZ. GUERRERO DOESN'T HAVE A FOLLOWING. KHAN IS MAYBE TWO FIGHTS AWAY. I REALLY BELIEVE THAT A MAYWEATHER ORTIZ II WOULD STILL SELL EVENTHOUGH 60 PERCENT OF THE FANS ARE PISSED. THROW IN MEXICANS ON THE UNDERCARD FOR A CINCO DE MAYO WEEKEND AND NOW WE HAVE A FIGHT CARD.
