  • Comments Thread For: Alexander Bakhtin vs. Joseph Agbeko Clash in Eyed

Promoter Vladimir Hyrunov is very interested in securing former champion Joseph Agbeko (28-4, 22KOs) for rising super bantamweight Alexander Bakhtin (30-0, 11KOs). Bahktin is going to defend his IBO championship on March 31 in Balashikha, Russia. Agbeko recently became a promotional free agent and plans to come back on February 22nd against Luis Melendez for the vacant IBO title, at bantamweight. That fight takes place on Agbeko's home soil of the Accra Sports Stadium in Accra, Ghana. Hyrunov would like to see Bakhtin face Agbeko next, but their fight dates are close enough where it probably will be difficult to make for the end of March.

Bakhtin will box his ears off. I dont think Agbeko is over the Mare double loss! Then again Luis Melendez was coming off a 3 ko win streak (cans) Before getting Kod by a heavy hitter in his last fight. Agbeko shouldnt look to far right now! Melendez can surprise!

Tough first defense for Bakhtin. Agbeko is a big step up in competition. Good fight.

Bakhtin isn't a "rising" super bantamweight anymore. He's been fighting for 12 years, he's 31 and should have gotten a legit title shot at 118 lbs years ago. Agbeko is a good fight but Bakhtin's promoters need to get him an effing title shot ferchristsakes.

Every other fighter in boxing has a title. Let me restate: something better than an IBO belt.
