Johnny Tapia could be in trouble again.
On Thursday, the Albuquerque Police Department said the world boxing champion crashed his car into a curb near Golf Course Road and Paseo del Norte in Albuquerque’s Westside.
Tapia didn’t show signs of inebriation but blood was drawn for police investigators to determine if he was on drugs.
Tapia was not arrested and is not facing any criminal charges.
Police will decide if they will press charges when the blood test results are available.
The incident started around 4 p.m. when a 911 dispatcher received a call about a vehicle swerving in the road.
Police learned Tapia was the driver of the vehicle when cops found it crashed into a curb.
Tapia had a valid driver’s license and reportedly cooperated with police.
