I mean if you look at the western presence in the Middle East, it's been much more negative than positive. Sure the United States (or should I say President Bush) has successfully ensured that no attack has happened on their own soil since 9/11 but other nations have since suffered, (London and Spain train bombings, Iraq's sectarian violence). Not to mention that the anger of Islamic fundamentalists have only grown since the harsh foreign policy by the Bush Administration.
