He got paid, no reason to feel sorry for him more than any other boxer that loses a fight. If he hadn't gotten paid, different story.

Blackball him from what HBO, it is not like he was getting on HBO before.

Also open yourself up for litigation especially if a dude gets hurt~ it is so much cheaper to just pay him and entice him now.
Already #1 contender for the title. If someone doesn't want to go in due to it not being fair. And, reporting that no amount of money can't change that. Then yes, blackballing/threatening can very well be the next option.

Why hasn't there been any confirmation on the amount? Just speculation.

Lmao @ ppl believing Al Haymon, HBO, Golden Boy are not powerful enough to yank that ass out the game.

Being offering advancement in your career, is being enticed.

        It is a big difference.
Or just blackballing him if he doesn't fight. Could lead to being forced.

If this thing happens again, the violator should be suspended automatically for at least two years, OR at least penalized by getting only 25% of the his original purse and be given to his opponent. If the opponent chooses not to fight for safety reasons, it's up to the promoters, networks, people who invested money to make the event happen, to go after the offending individual. They can either sue him or have him boycotted and be made to fight for free, if he wants to fight.

No they aren't they can't make anyone do anything.

They can give someone two stark choices, but once again no one is forcing him to fight he can go in a different direction in his life, and with all the communication devices it wouldn't be to hard to catch them up anyway.

You don't even need to threaten you could just say look you can go back to where you were fight on Spanish language TV or you can fight, get paid, get another title shot and go from there.

Also keep in mind Escobedo was a big time prospect when GBP signed him and GBP has stood by him even when he lost and failed when they got him opportunities and they help him get this opportunity so yea they are out to fuck him and would not want him to get another shot which is a fight they could put on and recoup some of their investment in him~

No, because he doesn't HAVE to fight. He could do a lot of different things with his life. Like writing a tell all book about all these guys, I am sure some boxing writer would help him out~

Or you can take away him even being on Spanish. You can take away his whole way of making a living in this sport.

Yes Haymon, HBO, and Golden Boy have enough pull/power to force their hands on fighters on the level of Escobedo. He is not established. So yes he can be forced by the powers that be. They have to yank that ass out the game. Boxing is one if not the most dirtiest corrupt sports in the World.

And, FWIW there other members in boxing who also feel Escobedo was pressured/forced to take this fight.

But, lets act as if boxing is not a dirty sport.

Or I can believe that the moon landing didn't happen, or that 9/11 was a conspiracy, or that the CIA killed both Kennedy's~

He will still be at the top of the WBO rankings, so Top Rank would sign him to throw him in with Magdelano for that vacant strap.

They can merely offer him a choice, and they can be starkly different but it is still his choice, he COULD walk away there might be consequences to that choice but there are always consequences to the decision we make.
