  • After all this fiasco; why has Floyd been given a pass to fight Sergio?

Everyone has talked about Cotto or Canelo.

Why is Sergio not named anymore? Has he been given a pass?

The Macklin fight could easily be bought out.

Good question. Sergio at 154 would be a good fight for both sides and from a cred and legacy standpoint, it would help Floyd immensely.

In a perfect world Floyd would fight Pac at 147. then Cotto at 154, then move up and fight Sergio at 160....then retire. Who and what would be left to do at that point? He'd pretty much secure his place as the greatest PPV draw of all time and arguably as the Greatest fighter of his generation, if not ever...epecially if he finished undefeated.

        Because Sergio can't make 147.

Floyd went up to 154 because Oscar called the shots, and that was the weight he was comfortable at. Now Floyd calls the shots and 147 is where he's comfortable at.

Floyd isn't going above 147. Manny probably won't either, unless there's a big payoff.

His farewell fight should be against a young gun like canelo

if floyd fights canelo then they will have to fight at 154 or around 151 at minimum. canelo simply can't go below 150 anymore.

Martinez isn't in Mayweather plans right now before he retire I think he'll fight him at 154

                  This is a good point.

The fact of the matter is: there isn't a ton of money to be made and there's a higher risk to take by fighting Martinez. Sergio doesn't even have a belt at 154 anymore. What's the incentive to take the fight?

I'm one of the biggest Martinez nuthuggers on this site, but you got to keep it realistic. It does not make sense for Floyd or Manny to face Martinez, even though I feel it was especially wrong for Pac to fight for Martinez's title but won't entertain the idea of facing Martinez himself.

Martinez is probably never going to be on a PPV unless he turns his back on DiBella, but he's still putting on great performances and making damn good money where he's at. More than can be said for most good fighters that have no fans.

for the million time, Sergio fights at 160lb's & PBF fighters at 147lb's, if Mayweather bought down Martinez to 154lb's he won't get no reward for the victory because people will claim it's not Martinez natural weight class.

How about Martinez fights somebody big at 154lb's first, see how his performance is & then bring in Martinez's name to the equation for a future oppenent.
