  • Comments Thread For: Maidana vs. Soto Karass To Become WBA Eliminator?

BoxingScene.com has been advised that the World Boxing Association has received a request to sanction Marcos Maidana (31-3, 28KOs) vs. Jesus Soto Karass (26-7-3, 17KOs) as a WBA welterweight eliminator. The Showtime televised fight takes place on the Saul Alvarez-Josesito Lopez undercard at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Maidana recently sent the WBA an official notification to indicate his intention to vacate the WBA "regular" title at 140-pounds.

Maidana's only fight at WW, he gets taken to school by Devon Alexander. Now he'll get the chance to fight for the title if he beats Soto-Karass, a tough, but limited fringe contender. What a joke.

God I ****ing hate the WBA. Just ****ing hate them.

Eliminator for what and how? JSK has fought at 154 the past 3 fights, and his last two trips to 147 he was beaten.

      Maidana got embarrassed at 147.

How the **** can those pieces of **** justify this?

people are still getting worked up by the actions of corrupt sanctioning organizations?

          No sh11t.

Let's forget those shrewd sanctioning bodies for a moment and look at the fight itself.

          This fight could be fireworks

WBA love Maidana, they did everything they could to give him a title at 140. His adventures at 147 will be similarly blessed.

Now this is just plain stupid!! Politics in boxing never seems to amaze me. Soto Karass only has 2 wins in his last 7 fights. Maidana only has 1 fight as a welterweight and was taken to school by Alexander. What can u expect from an alphabet organization that has up to 3 champs in each division? (super, regular, interim).

Maidana Dominates At 140; Being MIS-MANAGED At 147!!!

Maidana ALREADY said he didn't like the way he felt how slow he was at 147 losing to Alexander who was much larger than Maidana on fight night. Yet his mgmt team talks him into another fight at 47. Stupid.

If we've seen fights like Canelo vs M. Hatton (WBC 154 lbs), Mares vs Morel (WBC 122), Morales vs Cano (it was first Morales vs Barrios; 140 WBC), JMM vs Fedchenko (interim 140 WBO) or Mayorga can have other chance... is it so strange?
