Do most casual observers know the difference between Lundy and Cano? Looking great against Lundy is better than looking average against Cano to GBP.

    So that is terrible promotion.

I would say yes for the simple fact that Cano has had WAY MORE exposure than Lundy on much bigger events. And what exactly makes you think Matthysse will look average against Cano?

By raise his stock I mean like what beating Khan did for Garcia, beating a good guy no one knows about does not raise a guys stock very much~

I would've been offended if I were Matthysse and was offered this fight. Anyway, it should be a showcase fight for him. If GBP is any good they'll have the winner of Garcia/Judah fight the winner of this. It's the only fair thing to do.

No one knows who Cano is~ except people here and even then he is still under the radar. That win doesn't raise his profile any real degree, not anymore than a win over Lundy if they look equally impressive.

Maybe Matthysse looks good but there is a larger chance he has a hard time than with Lundy. There is no chance he looks anything but impressive against Lundy.

From a boxing promotion point of view if you have a choice of two opponents that are not well known pick the guy your guy will look better against.

I'd have to disagree with this Gambler.

Cano is tailor made for Mathysse. Just look at the Morales fight.

Whereas Lundy is a much better boxer who actually has a jab and at times looks pretty good.

Cano is a much more exciting kill for Mathysse.

It is a showcase fight, you don't do showcase fights for a guy if you don't care about them~ you put guys you don't care about in constant tough fights hoping they can be a dragon slayer for your more popular guys~
They put Khan in constant tough fights. That would mean that by your theory they don't care about Khan because they let him fight in DC against a dangerous opponent in his backyard who was 30-1. Then they put him up against Garcia who was a promising, young undefeated champion.

And they also put Matthysse in tough fights last year. He did Garcia's dirty work by eliminating Ajose out of the picture and he fought Soto who was a very tough opponent. He fought his way into position to become Garcia's mandatory and he's getting the Lara treatment.

Matthysse should be offended by this matchup. He destroys two strong contenders at 140, puts himself in position to fight the top guy at 140 and draws an opponent who lost his last fight and has never even fought at 140.

Cano was super young for that fight and Cano seems to have gotten better.

Lundy might look threatening for a while Matthysse will overcome him for sure in the end.

Either way it is not like there is much in it, beating either guy in impressive fashion is essentially the same thing.

They thought Khan was better than he was~ I also don't think they thought Peterson or Garcia were incredibly difficult fights for Khan. They were wrong about that.

Matthysse should take his anger out on the showcase guy he is fighting, thus raising his stock for a bigger fight while collecting a nice pay check~
