he got knocked down in the first round, and there are many ppl who believe this fight could have gone either way.

hopkins peaked late ill give you that, most fighters his size peak at around 28. around the age he became world champion.

hopkins peaked at around 35, 38 at latest. so he peaked late, true. but to say he gets better with age is just ignorant. his physical assests clearly diminished as he got near and past 40, and he hasnt improved that much skillwise in the last few years to say hes acctually getting better.

44 year old hopkins beats 28 year old hopkins, but he is still atleast 6 years past his prime. the best version of hopkins is inbetween.

he wasnt at his best against calzaghe thats for sure, and even if he was the main critisism joe gets isnt that hopkins was old as much as alot of ppl think hopkins won.

it was a very controversial fight and joe left alot of doubt refusing to rematch him.
